About Anarchy Online Credits

Anarchy Online (AO) is a science-fi themed massive multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) released in 2001. The game has 4 expansion packs including The Notum Wars (2002), Shadowlands (2003), Alien Invasion (2004) and Lost Eden (2006). A rather aged MMORPG, the population of the game is small with only about 10,000 subscribers in Jan 2006 according to MMOGChart. The game is the first in the MMORPG genre to include free trials and in-game advertising in its setting. The game revolves around the planet called Rubi-Ka. Players start the game as a new colonizer of the planet who is in search of the mineral Votum. The player's skills are being improved as the game progresses, with no clear objective for the player to achieve. Running for 12 years now, Anarchy Online is one of the longest running MMO game there is. The game was accepted very well by the MMO community with the developers reporting 35,000 registered accounts 5 days after it was launched.

Anarchy Online credits are the in-game currency. AO Credits are earned by completing missions or by hunting mobs in the wilds of Rubi-Ka. Nearly all items can be sold to vendor terminals or NPCs for credits. Players use Anarchy Online credits to trade items between themselves or trade with player shops provided by the Alien Invasion expansion. The in-game economy suffers from inflation. As of June 27, 100 million AO credits are selling for about $20, where as playing in 3 hours of low-level can earn only 600 credits.
